Block out That Noise Now!
Posted by Shue in Home Decorating Tips, Tips on 05 4th, 2009
Have you ever thought about sound-proofing your bedroom or any other part of the house? It is very helpful if you want to have a good night’s sleep when there is loud music blaring from the neighbor’s speakers.
There are sound-absorbing materials available that can be used for doors and ceilings to cut down noise. You can also use insulation tiles and carpeting for reducing noise pollution. Keep in mind that hard tiles and hardwood flooring are good transmitters of noise, so avoid them as much as possible.
Who would not like to come back to a peaceful home after work?

A child will be a child and tend to use the wall as a drawing surface. My kid used to do the same thing. I was trying to find some paint that could save my walls from such art attacks!
I found out that there are various nontoxic, water-based acrylic paints available that are washable and do not chip off easily. You can also go for a semi-gloss enamel paint that has a little shine and looks good too.
These paints will not harm your kid even if he accidentally puts it into his mouth, so choose a shade now!
Which Doorbell Works Well
Posted by Shue in Home Decorating Tips, Tips on 05 2nd, 2009
Oh no, I am not going to talk about the different manufacturers of doorbells here. I am going to discuss what sort of doorbell is practical for home use.
There are some people who prefer a doorbell that sounds like a chirping bird. Then I have also come across a doorbell that actually played movie tracks when pressed! But I still prefer the ding-dong sounding doorbell as it serves the purpose well and is not very costly too. It is low on maintenance and care.
When you are anyway going to answer the doorbell, why spend so much on it?
How to Have Greener Plants
Posted by Shue in Home Decorating Tips on 04 8th, 2009
I am a gardening buff. I have lots of plants in my home and backyard that I love attending to. But I realized that in certain seasons my green patch does not look as green as the rest of the year.
I consulted a local nursery and this is what they told me. Plants need to be moved to different locations (within the house or outside) for getting sufficient sunlight. This is necessary to keep them greener when the sun changes directions. If you live in an area where it is chilly for most part of the year, you can go for plants that grow well in shade.
Does Your Kid Have an Art Corner?
Posted by Shue in Home Decorating Tips on 04 6th, 2009My daughter sketches several ‘masterpieces’ each day and she expects me to display ALL of them on the soft board or the fridge! Some times I have no place left for these exhibits, so I was thinking of some solution to this.
That is when I thought of making an Art Corner for her. You can choose a corner or a wall in the kid’s room that is meant just for art display. Tie a colored string to hang on the pictures or craft items made by the kid.
My daughter is happy to show off her work to everyone that enters her room, what about you?
Think Colorful!

While doing your kid’s bedroom, always take into consideration his views on it. Depending on his or her age, the child might have different cartoon characters that he likes or some superhero that he aims to be!
The most important part in decorating a baby’s room is the color scheme you use. If you are going for wallpapers, you can select from any of the baby prints. If you are going for a painting job, use bright colors that make the atmosphere cheerful.
You can buy matching curtains to go with it and there you are- nothing can make your child happier!
Jingle Bells!

When we talk of bells, the first thing that strikes us is a church or wedding bells! I am going to share something interesting today with you regarding bells.
Every house has a door bell. But if you tie a string of small bells in your garden or on the window or on the door itself, the effect is truly fantastic. The bells will chime sweetly with a whiff of air or each time the door opens. These bells have a charm of their own.
Try and see how this little change can transform your home into that perfect place to be!
Sweet Memories on Your Wall

Every time I browse through my online albums I get nostalgic! It’s amazing to watch your family grow and spend time together in old photographs. I was finding some way so that all these treasured memories are always within reach.
Do you know about a digital photo frame? It works on electricity and looks just like any other photo frame that can be wall-mounted. It can store hundreds of photographs, depending on the memory. You can set up a slide show of your favorite moments etched in memory and simply relax watching it!
So is this the next item on your shopping list now?
How to Have a Brighter Home

All of us are not blessed with lavish palatial homes or villas. Instead of whining about this, I will tell you what can be done to make your home feel spacious and luminous.
Firstly, get rid of clutter. Wash the window panes and glass and see the light coming in to your rooms. Next what you can do is paint your home in pastel shades or shades of white as they reflect light better. Such light tints give an effect of space in the house. Go for functional furniture that is not bulky.
Let me know if these tips made your home brighter!
