How to Have a Brighter Home
Posted by Shue in Home Decorating Tips on 03 21st, 2009
All of us are not blessed with lavish palatial homes or villas. Instead of whining about this, I will tell you what can be done to make your home feel spacious and luminous.
Firstly, get rid of clutter. Wash the window panes and glass and see the light coming in to your rooms. Next what you can do is paint your home in pastel shades or shades of white as they reflect light better. Such light tints give an effect of space in the house. Go for functional furniture that is not bulky.
Let me know if these tips made your home brighter!

Posted by Shue in Cleaning tips on 03 20th, 2009
I don’t know from where ants suddenly appeared in my clean kitchen the other day. I would like to share my friend’s trick that drove the ants away in a jiffy!
Take a little ground cinnamon and sprinkle it at the probable entry points of ants such as tiny slits in windows etc. You can mix two portions of water with one portion of white vinegar along with about two tablespoons of dish washing liquid. Fill this in a spray bottle and aim it right on the ants…they will hurry to leave your house!
If you know some more tips, do leave them here!
Tidying Up the House Was Never So Easy
Posted by Shue in Cleaning tips on 03 19th, 2009
Last Sunday, I decided to play “clean house” with my kid. I gave her a big laundry basket and told her to look in each room for things that did not belong to that room. She was happy that she had got a ‘job’ to do, and did it well. Next I asked her to put back all those ‘misplaced’ things where they were supposed to be! Wow…I was surprised to see a really cleaner and tidier home!
Involving kids in housework is sure to make them responsible adults in future…why don’t you give it a try? Let me know if it helped you.
How to have a dry bathroom always!
Posted by Shue in Bathroom on 03 18th, 2009
It is indeed irritating to step on to a wet bathroom floor. I was always thinking about some way to get rid of this. I found a very simple answer to this- keep the exhaust fans switched on till the time you get out of the bathroom! This way the air flows freely and dries up the wet surfaces fast. You get a cleaner and drier bathroom in minutes. A dry bathroom does not need frequent cleaning too, so I save some time in doing that.
Now I don’t need to stand around with a mop to clean up every time the bathroom is used!
Aim for a clutter-free home
Posted by Shue in Cleaning tips on 03 17th, 2009I always wondered why I feel nice when I am out on vacation. I realized that the room where we stay is free from any sort of clutter. So the next thing I did was to make a plan for keeping my home as tidy as possible at all times. The husband and kids were told to clean up their things and place them in the right place at the RIGHT time. I did not know this could lead to my home feel like new everyday!
Now I find more time for cleaning up the rest of the house too. Try this once!
Start a fresh morning each day!

Why do we feel refreshed after visiting a park? Oh, the answer is simple. There is so much greenery around you that relaxes your senses and makes you forget your household worries. We can rejuvenate ourselves each morning if we place potted plants around the house in corners, near the door or on window sills.
For this you can select those plants that grow well in shade and don’t need lot of sunlight. You will be amazed to know how a small change like this can transform each day into a new one! Moreover, gardening is a great stress buster, so head for the nursery today!
